Unravelling Italy's advantageous Impatriati tax regime.
Beyond Italy's captivating landscapes and delectable cuisine lies a tax relief regime designed to make la bell’Italia an even more appealing destination. At Finding la Dolce Vita, we are committed to ensuring your move to Italy is not only seamless but financially advantageous. In this article, we'll delve into the specifics of the Impatriati fiscal regime—an essential component for employees and freelance workers making Italy their new home.
The Lavoratori Impatriati tax relief scheme is tailored for employees and freelance workers transitioning their residence to Italy.
Under the Impatriati regime, only 30% of your income derived from work as an employee or self-employment pursued in Italy is subject to taxation. If you reside in one of the following southern regions (Abruzzo, Molise, Campania, Apulia, Basilicata, Calabria, Sardinia, or Sicily), only a remarkable 10% of your income is subject to taxation.
This tax reduction is applicable for the first five years that you are a resident in Italy, and the scheme may be extended for an additional 5 years under certain conditions. During this extended period, 50% of the subsidised income becomes taxable, with a further reduction to 10% for workers with at least three children under 18 or otherwise dependent.
To take advantage of this tax relief scheme, you must remain a resident in Italy for five years, or you will be required to refund the tax you were initially exempt from. If you are an EU citizen, you can choose to be employed or self-employed. However, if you are not an EU citizen, having a job lined up in Italy is a prerequisite. Furthermore, a university degree is a necessary qualification for eligibility.

Buongiorno a tutti!
Some of you may not have heard about the government changes to the Italian Fiscal Regime Impatriati.
A new decree was released, meaning the taxable income percentage has risen from 10% in the south of Italy and from 30% in the north to a homogeneous 50%. This is still an incredible opportunity.
